God is everywhere, right?
We’ve all heard this countless times, yet it’s a profound truth that often gets overshadowed by the routines of our lives. We tend to associate God with church buildings, the pages of the Bible, and moments of prayer and meditation. But what if God is not limited to these places or times? What if God can be found at all times and in all places?
Today, let’s consider the omnipresent (fancy word meaning everywhere all at once) nature of God. This consideration involves two crucial conversions, and it’s all about rediscovering God in the ordinary.
The First Conversion: From the World to Christ
The first step on this transformative journey is the conversion from the world to Christ. It’s about shedding the layers of distractions, attachments, and worldly pursuits that have kept us distant from God’s way of life. This is a pivotal moment when we recognize the need for a deeper connection with our Creator. It’s when we let go of the temporal and embrace the eternal.
However, a word of caution is in order here. As we draw closer to God, there’s a subtle danger that can creep in—spiritual pride. We may start to feel spiritually superior, looking down on others who haven’t yet taken this path. This is a pitfall we must avoid at all costs, for it hinders our progress and distances us from the true essence of God’s presence.
The Second Conversion: From Christ to the World
To counter this spiritual pride, we need the second conversion—moving from Christ back into the world. It’s about letting go of any sense of superiority and embracing the world with the love and compassion that God intended. This conversion is where our faith meets the practicalities of everyday life.
It’s easy to get caught up in our own spiritual growth and forget that God’s love is not meant to be hoarded. Instead, it should flow through us, touching the lives of those around us. This means showing kindness to a stranger, lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, and being a source of light in the darkest of times. In essence, it’s about embodying the teachings of Christ in our interactions with the world.
Finding God Everywhere.
These two conversions are not isolated events but rather an ongoing process that trains us to find God where He truly is—everywhere. God is not confined to a specific place or time. He is not an exclusive entity accessible only to a select few. God is present in the beauty of creation, the wisdom of great literature, and the hearts of the people you work with.
So, where do you find God? The answer is simple yet profound: everywhere. But the real question is, are you looking for Him? Are you open to His presence in your daily life, in the ordinary moments that often go unnoticed?
As you go about your day, remember these two conversions. Let go of the worldly distractions that keep you from God’s path and be vigilant against any trace of spiritual pride. Embrace the world with love, compassion, and humility, reflecting the divine light that resides within you.
In doing so, you’ll discover that God is not a distant figure in the heavens, but a constant, guiding presence in your life—a presence you can find anywhere, at any time.
